History of Veteran’s Day

Veteran’s day officially started as an armistice, which is the temporary cessation of hostilities during World War I, The Great War.  On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month their was a armistice which is how our modern veteran’s day started.

During history our government has tried to change the date to always be on a Monday, to establish a long weekend for federal employees, however the significance of the date takes priority to a long weekend.
